Classic Car VIN Decoder
Before 1981, every American maker stamped its own kind of serial number, and most VIN sites can't read them. Ours decodes 21 American makes built 1946 to 1980, from Chevrolet, Ford and Mopar to Studebaker and Packard, and shows the source behind every line.
- Model year, assembly plant, body and engine, where the factory recorded them
- Fender, cowl and body tags, plus engine, transmission and rear axle codes
- 1981-and-later VINs too, using official NHTSA data and recalls
About us
"I've never seen a car I didn't like."
That's our motto, and we mean it. A shared love of cars brought the Autoducks crew together. We still have a soft spot for the classics: chrome bumpers, carburetors and serial numbers stamped by hand. But we've made room for modern machines too, and some of them have been instant hits.
What we look for
Cars with a story. Barn finds and survivors, weekend projects and daily drivers, the family wagon and the one that got away. If it has wheels and somebody loves it, we want to see it.
